What Is CitySafe?

CitySafe is a community safety initiative powered by Personal Protective Concepts (PPC). We offer free and low-cost personal safety workshops designed to equip New Yorkers with the skills and confidence to protect themselves and others.

We focus on underserved communities, real-world threats, and trauma-informed solutions — all taught by professionals with military and protective backgrounds.
 

This isn’t just training — it’s empowerment.

Monthly Workshops

Each month, CitySafe hosts public workshops aligned with timely awareness campaigns and community needs:

January – Human Trafficking
Situational awareness, identifying red flags, escape strategies, and how to safely report or intervene.

February – Black History Month
Empowerment through personal safety, self-defense in historically underserved communities, and community solidarity.

March – Women’s History Month
Self-defense for women and girls, boundary setting, and confidence-building techniques.

April – Sexual Assault Awareness Month
Trauma-informed self-defense, bystander intervention, and consent education.

May – AAPI Heritage Month
Self-defense and safety strategies for AAPI communities, hate crime prevention, and language-accessible support.

June – LGBTQ+ Pride Month
LGBTQ+ safe space training, self-defense in hostile environments, and allyship.

July – Mental Health Awareness Month
De-escalation skills, trauma-informed care, self-regulation, and emotional safety tools.

August – Student Safety
Back-to-school safety planning, bullying prevention, situational awareness for youth, and parent/guardian safety tips.

September – Hispanic Heritage Month
Language-accessible safety training, family-based self-defense, and community protection strategies.

October – Domestic Violence Awareness Month
Survivor-focused safety planning, protective orders, trauma-informed self-defense, and resources.

November – Native American Heritage Month
Safety training in collaboration with Indigenous-led orgs and culturally responsive protection strategies.

​December – Universal Human Rights Month
Safety as a human right, solidarity practices, and year-end community safety planning.

Workshops are open to all and hosted throughout NYC in partnership with local leaders and organizations.
